Building Maze Escape

Fortnite Creative, by Epic Games, Inc., was utilized extensively to build the maze in the Creative program and gather screenshots used in these instructions. The online educational materials provided by Epic Games, Inc. in their Fortnite Creative Documentation furnished the maze escape concept, house the original Mazey Escape in Fortnite Creative gameplay directions which I modified for this website, and provide a plethora of usage notes for the software application, which are linked in various places within my document.

This project demonstrates my experience in instructional design and writing task-based user guides. I created a comprehensive set of online instructions for building a game in Fortnite Creative, a gaming platform developed by Epic Games, Inc. After reading over the instructions supplied by Epic Games, found here, and creating and testing the game myself in Fortnite Creative, I wrote my own instructions designed to clearly lead a user through a complex, multi-step technical process.

The player’s objective is to escape from a maze by collecting torches which will trigger the exit doors to open. The player must run around the maze searching for the torches, which will appear as the game progresses. After building Maze Escape, you will understand the use of perception trigger devices, item spawners, conditional buttons, locks and how devices communicate using channels.
